From January 1, 2024, Amendment 07-23 of the International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC Code 2023 Edition KL260E) Code can be voluntarily implemented. Its official enforcement on December 1, 2025, will then become mandatory for all vessels loading solid bulk cargoes. The IMSBC Code amendments happen every two years to reflect the changes in the nature and variety of solid bulk cargoes presented for shipment.

This publication also offers extra information that supports the IMSBC Code. This includes the BLU Code for Safe Loading and Unloading of Bulk Carriers. Also, the BLU Manual and recommendations for safe pesticide use on ships.

The IMSBC Code and its supplement praise Administrations, shipowners, shippers, masters, and all stakeholders involved in setting standards for the safe stowage and shipment of solid bulk cargoes, excluding grain.
